The goal each year is to raise $50,000 to purchase prizes and entertainment to set up the amazing activities for our seniors and their guests. We have a variety of fundraisers to reach that lofty goal - and need volunteers for all of them!

Dear Cape Cod Community:

This year's high school juniors are in their final semester of school and looking forward to next year's Senior Prom and Celebration as their journey in Barnstable Public Schools approaches its end. Senior year spring is a time for celebration, but it’s also the most dangerous time of year for teen-aged drivers. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the months of May and June had the highest teenage motor vehicle fatalities. Tragically, in 1994, a Barnstable High School senior became one of those statistics.

Out of tragedy, a parent volunteer group formed an After Prom Party called “Celebration.” Their mission became keeping Barnstable teens safe and off the roads on Prom night. Celebration is a drug and alcohol-free all-night event held after the high school’s formal prom and runs from 11 pm to 6 am the next day. Each year, food, prizes, and entertainment are offered to over 350 students. 

Celebration is a truly spectacular, successful event that serves as a model for other communities across Cape Cod. For the night of the event, the Barnstable High School Athletic Field House is transformed into a multi-stage venue. An entire wing of the high school becomes game and movie rooms, a Tiki Bar for karaoke, multiple dance floors with DJs, arts & crafts, jewelry making and places for table top gaming, laser tag and a mobile gaming unit, caricatures and a giant inflatable and activity park. Students spend the night feasting on food buffets, riding mechanical bulls, dancing, singing, playing games, and enjoying prize drawings. It’s truly a night to remember for all students.

Although Barnstable High School provides the facilities, Celebration is a completely community-funded initiative. Each year, local businesses step up to make this event so successful. Seniors and their guests are treated to a wonderful memory without having to worry about cost of attendance, because Celebration is free! Our teens leave high school feeling supported by their local community and having a night to remember for many years to come.
