Join us on 25th September at The Gorton Monastery, Manchester, for the Black History Month Civic Launch, marking 80 years since the Fifth Pan-African Congress. Enjoy live performances, keynote speeches, creative showcases, and local business stalls. Celebrate Black heritage, connect with community leaders, and experience a night of culture and pride.

Session "Standing Firm in Pride and Power" reflects on race equality evolution, leading with identity pride, and navigating racial equality complexities.

3rd October 2025 - ManchesterStanding Firm in Power and PrideCelebrating 40 years fighting HIV, honoring Black contributions in Greater Manchester to the HIV struggle. Features panel discussion, music, singing, food, fashion parade. Traditional attire welcomed with prize for best-dressed. Hot food and travel expenses reimbursed.

3rd October - ManchesterBlack Creative Trailblazers ShowcaseSpectacular celebration featuring UK's most exciting emerging Black creatives in music, dance, fashion, art and poetry. Showcasing next generation talent across multiple artistic disciplines.

4th October - Bolton Bolton International Film FestivalNorth West's largest BAFTA/BIFA-qualifying short film festival marks Black History Month with "Oceans Between Us" - films of memory, migration, resilience, reinvention. Saturday 4th October, 8pm, The Light Cinema, Bolton.

Rebecca Gnaffou live in Manchater

Hosting well-known Ivorian Gospel singer for prayers during peaceful electoral season in Ivory Coast. Spiritual gathering for community support and unity.

Black History Month 2025, Fashion and Heritage

Fashion show with award-winning designer Dabby Bankz. Marlene Stringfellow discusses Black Afro hair history. Hair braiding by Majesty's salon, African board games. Le Mans Crescent location.

6th October - Manchester

An Evening with Erinma Bell

Erinma Bell converses with inspirational Black women leaders. In 2003, she co-founded CARISMA charity offering alternatives to gang crime, achieving 92% decrease in Manchester gun crime. A sculpture made from 50 recycled guns honors her work - first female statue in Town Hall in 150 years.

Great Big Live Assembly: Black History Month 2025 (Secondary Schools)

10-minute YouTube assembly for Black History Month. Hosted by Gemma Hunt, Jeriah Kibusi, Dr Krish Kandiah. Features Black role models, Rosa Parks 70th anniversary focus, theme "Standing Firm in Power and Pride." Live Q&A and community-building ideas.

Unison Branch celebrates Black History Month with performances, guest speakers, music and food. African and Caribbean backgrounds are fundamental to British history. Event commemorates and shares Black heritage and culture's impact.

This black-tie evening celebrates Caribbean and African communities with awards, live performances, fashion shows, and music. Pop-up greenhouse poetry session. Sit down with a brew, write poems with artist support creating community poetry zine. For Black History Month, chat and write about Black stories, alternative histories, freedom/struggle and culture.

Unity Radio’s Primetime with Kai Jasper celebrates Black History Week on 92.8FM from Media City UK. Pan-African Organising In Manchester

Manchester City Council is marking this special month with a host of events. Our Inclusion and Engagement Team Teams will honour the 80th anniversary of the Fifth Pan-African Congress, a landmark meeting for anti-colonial movements both in Manchester and Africa.

Local historian Parise Carmicheal-Murphy will be joined by the Ahmed Iqbal Ullah RACE Centre team for a deep dive talk and archive exploration, highlighting the impact the conference has had on racial equality today.
