This is a 4 part design report where each report focuses on a different design process. The aircraft is then summarized in a final presentation detailing its unique aspects.
Aircraft Design is a complicated and iterative process that is even more complex when started from a blank sheet (a completely new design). This project designed a full aircraft from scratch using AAA (Advanced Aircraft Analysis). This aircraft is designed to have short takeoffs and landings on both runways and on lakes. It will be a small aircraft that can transport people or cargo. The design process includes: Mission Specifications, Mission Profile, Similar Aircraft Comparison, Performance Constraints, Aircraft Configuration, Fuselage, and Cockpit Layout, Wing Sizing and Positioning, Airfoil Selection, Propulsion Design, Weight Design, CG Positioning, Empennage Layout, Control Surface Design, Landing Gear, Summery of Important Physical Parameters, Stability and Control Derivatives, Flying Qualities, and Suggested Design Changes for Future Iterations. These are detailed through 4 design reports and summarized in the summary presentation.
