Order your Rakhis and Masks
In Dehradun the Bhaskaroday Trust has 4 volunteering girls who were taught mask and rakhi making by Ms Sumitra Chauhan (Secretary). Under her guidance, the girls also learnt to make reusable cloth sanitary pads. This effort has been initiated to help the family of the girls move towards economic stability. The four girls, all sisters, come from a poor family, with their father being unemployed currently and mother working as a house maid. The income is barely enough to pay the room rent.
The girls first came in the Trust's network during the month of April 2020, while we were involved in providing food and essential items to students and poor families. The girls first volunteered by helping in packing provisions that were distributed to migrant students.
Within the next couple of months, the girls started learning yoga from Ms Sumitra Chauhan. The younger girls are also being taught mathematics and other subjects by our Treasurer, Mr Mukesh Khanduri.
The girls were provided a sewing machine and cloth by the Trust and were taught mask-making. Today, they stitch masks of different designs. With Rakshabandan coming in a few days, the girls learnt to make various types of rakhis with different materials. Along with these, they have started making reusable cloth sanitary pads which are totally biodegradable.
Every mask, rakhi and sanitary pad that you buy helps in providing rent, educational support and economic stability to the poor family of these girls.
