How Literature shaped me?

Do you have an interest in 'Art'? If your answer is yes. I am sure you would like to be a student of Literature. Literature is Art. I am a student of literature, since the five years I am diving up in the Art of literature, through these years I came across many novels, short stories, plays, poems and so on. Now finally at the end of MA, having a sense of an ending I am going to share my views on how literature helps me in shaping myself, in shaping my thoughts, in shaping my vision.

Back then I am not able to explain what literature is for me, though I learnt it in my UG and my Knowledge is like zero, then the real knowledge I have been gaining in the years of PG at the department of English under the guidance of Dr.Dilip Barad sir.

When I started my B.A my first lesson was 'what is literature?' and the same as in my PG, first I am writing about 'what is literature?'

Literature gives the development of mind. Why do we learn literature? How do we learn? Those types of questions are created automatically in our minds. Because literature helps in creating lots of questions in our mind.

During school days I used to read some some short stories of I. K Vijalivala, but at that time I thought that literature is only a piece of any story but when I entered in B.A then I got to know that literature is not only a piece of any story but it gives deeper meaning, then also I was not aware of the exact meaning of literature.

I would like to say that literature helps a lot to widen up our thinking process and through this, you can criticize and question anything.

During three years of my Bachelor, lots of novels remained my favourite. I studied “The Bluest Eye” novel by being curious about the novel’s title. Pecola, the protagonist character suffers a lot because of having black skin and at the end her desire for bluest eyes leads her to become mad. Though Bluest eyes is about racism, casticism and also about the power of women. I learnt that women's power is very important, it means in ourselves we have to b strong always.

During M.A studies, Virginia Woolf’s “To The Lighthouse” gave more light to me for learning literature, it proved a “Powerhouse” to me. It gives light and power to me.

It gives light to me that I have to decide to be independent though not in terms of throwing away all the relations but what I learnt is to the construction of my mind.

I've learned something new in my PG level, suicide is "art" from sense of an ending Novel.

The On@tcc novel gives me a different kind of thinking or endurance in any situation. During the Corona pandemic year lots of difficult situations came in front of me. But I have learnt From On@tcc that never give up try and try we will get a solution at any place and any situation. Because of Covid 19 our studying thoroughly goes through online mode. It is far difficult for me because of network problems in rural areas and most difficult is staying with family for a long duration. When you are staying in a hostel from 12 year and suddenly you have to stay with family.

In the Corona pandemic I have learnt most important things through studies. I have got more knowledge about technology and how to use technology for the study purpose. I have learnt lots of things under guidance of Dilip Barad sir.

Literature is any artistic way of using language to reflect the daily human experience. literature is a mirror that shows the social, economical, political and religious aspects of the world. Literature is an art and uses language which deviates from normal conversation to create an effect in literary work. Literature can also be called 'many men, many minds.'

Metaphor

Literature, the word itself says a lot, it is a mirror of society, it is an ex-ray image and so on. But for me literature seems " Elaichi ". This helps to flush out harmful chemicals from your body and makes you feel energetic. Include elaichi in your daily meals to stay healthy. Literature seems like Elaichi. Literature helps to flush out harmful thinking from our mind and deep understanding of literature makes you feel energetic from mind. Elaichi is a spice which is covered with a green layer and lots of seeds inside Elaichi. So Literature is also like that. If we look at literature, it gives esthetic meaning but if we can understand deeply we come to know what Literature is. Elaichi is a spice which is used in different ways.
