Welcome!
Welcome!
Hello! I'm an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical Communication Engineering at IISc. My research interest is in signal compression and related fields. Currently, my research focus is on multimedia compression for virtual reality and augmented reality.
I received bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Karnataka, in 2014. Later, I moved to the US and obtained M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), CA, in 2016 and 2021, respectively. I was a Multimedia Research Scientist with ByteDance, San Diego, USA from 2021 to 2025, where I actively participated in MPEG standardization and had multiple accepted proposals. I then moved to India and was with Qualcomm Bangalore as a Staff Engineer before joining IISc.
I'm currently looking for motivated students to build my team. The focus of the research will be on the emerging topics of Gaussian Splat Compression and Point Cloud Compression. If you are interested to pursue PhD/MTech in these topics or want to work as a project assistant, please contact me!
