Bharani Nakshatra in Astrology | Dr Vinay Bajrangi

The Bharani nakshatra is the second Nakshatra of the zodiac among 27 nakshatras in astrology. The planet Venus is the ruler of Bharani Nakshatra, and it ranges from 13-20′ – 26-40′ in the zodiac sign of Aries. The ruling deity of Bharani Nakshatra is Lord Yama, the son of the Sun and the elder brother of Saturn. Lord Yama holds immense religious importance in Hinduism as he decides the ultimate fate of a soul once it leaves its current body/existence, i.e., death.

Lord Yama is the deity who analyzes one’s good and bad karma to give His verdict about the next birth or salvation of the soul. Justice is not the personal choice of the Lord, and he takes account of the good and bad deeds to decide the ultimate fate of the soul. If the karmas are good, the soul gets good results; otherwise, it must suffer in hell on Earth.

Bharani Nakshatra- A unique overview of the Nakshatra

To understand the Bharani nakshatra logically, we should first look at its significance in Vedic Astrology. Lord Yama, as the ruling deity of the Nakshatra, brings an end to the activity of the soul bringing it to stagnation so that its next phase can be decided. The Nakshatra appears like a container or storage jar or signifies a holding location of the departed souls. It shows a place that everyone has to reach before reaching the final destination. Now, this final destination can be the Earth, Abode, or Hell.

Here, we can infer the Bharani nakshatra makes the native go through suffering and challenges before reaching a state of bliss. This Nakshatra symbolizes going through hardships and negative situations to finally reach the desired destination. According to Vedic sources, each departed soul has to wade through the celestial river called Vaitarni in the sky to reach its final state.

Indian Mythology narrates the Vaitarni River to be the longest

river. All departed souls have to swim across this river after having obtained their final judgment from the Lord Yama. It is said that those rooted in the heavens are able to cross the river comfortably, and those ordered to go to hell have to undergo several tortures while crossing it. The river begins from the Vrisha/Taurus Rashi region and disappears in the far South Sky.

Thus, Bharani nakshatra could efficiently be considered as a nakshatra that transforms people and gives them immense courage and motivation to move towards good things in life.

The symbol of Bharani Nakshatra- a Yoni

The symbol of the Bharani nakshatra is a female reproductive organ called the yoni. Now, here the yoni has a deep meaning attached to it. One should understand that all beings come to life by taking birth from the yoni. It is not just the human yoni we are talking about; it is a female reproductive organ of every possible species in this world. Whichever yoni one gets to descend on the Earth or elsewhere depends upon our past karmas or deeds. So, the Nakshatra tells the tale of going through a journey of hardships or challenges to get what you wish for!

Venus - the ruler of Bharani nakshatra

The Bharani Nakshatra Rashi is Aries which is ruled by Mars, but the nakshatra ruler of Bharani is Venus. So, the Nakshatra shows the influence of both planets. With Venus as its ruler, the Nakshatra shows the desire for comforts, luxuries, romance, love, and finer things in life. The Nakshatra definitely shows desire, and it is further strengthened under the rule of Venus.

Venus makes the natives highly adaptable to the circumstances to get their desires fulfilled. Bharani can be termed as a nakshatra of fear, desire, jealousy, justice, sacrifice, etc. The Bharani nakshatra natives are action-oriented and believe in doing rather than saying. The natives usually undergo a transformation and are willing to bring changes in their personalities for betterment. The Nakshatra is also depicted as the ‘bearing star’ because the natives possess strong desires for them. The natives are masters in the arts of hiding things. You can’t make out what is going inside them through their expressions or behavior. They are highly secretive and usually adopt careers requiring secretive tendencies. They may act calmly in extreme situations, not letting the person know what’s happening around them.
