Bhalam – Privacy Policy

Bhalam (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the Bhalam mobile application (the “App”).
By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
A. Account and Profile Information (Stored in Firebase)
When you create an account, we collect:
Email address
Display name
User ID and account creation timestamp
B. Onboarding Information (Stored in Firebase)
To personalize your experience, we collect:
Date of birth
Weight and weight unit
Experience level and fitness goal
C. Apple Health Data (HealthKit – Read-Only, On-Device)
With your explicit permission, the App may read:
Step count (with optional future support for heart rate and workouts)
Important HealthKit Disclosures:
Health data is accessed only with your permission via Apple Health.
HealthKit data is used solely to display charts and insights in the App.
HealthKit data is processed only on your device.
We do not upload HealthKit data to our servers.
We do not sell, share, or use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing.
You can manage or revoke Health permissions at any time in the Apple Health app.
D. Local Preferences (On-Device)
Stored locally using AppStorage/UserDefaults:
Weight and distance units
Appearance and display preferences
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect:
Location data
Contacts or address book
Camera, microphone, or photos
Payment or financial information
Advertising identifiers
Cross-app or cross-website tracking data
We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or analytics SDKs.
3. Use of AI (Gemini AI)
The App includes an optional AI-powered chatbot feature using Google Gemini AI.
Messages you submit to the chatbot may be sent securely to Gemini AI to generate responses.
AI inputs may include workout-related questions or text you provide.
We do not send Apple HealthKit data to Gemini AI.
AI responses are informational only and are not medical advice.
AI processing is used solely to provide conversational and informational features within the App.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
Provide and operate the App and its features
Create and manage user accounts
Personalize workouts and app settings
Display fitness insights and progress
Enable social features such as friends
Provide customer support and respond to inquiries
Maintain security and prevent misuse
Legal bases for processing (where applicable):
Performance of a contract (providing the App)
Your consent (e.g., HealthKit access)
Legitimate interests (security and abuse prevention)
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We share information only in the following limited cases:
Service Providers
We use Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) to provide core app functionality.
Service providers process data on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect it.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or security of users or others.
6. Data Storage, Retention, and Security

HealthKit data: On-device only

Retention
Data is retained while your account is active.
Upon verified deletion requests, personal data is deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period, subject to legal and backup retention requirements.
Security
Data in transit is protected using TLS encryption.
We use Firebase security rules and access controls.
No system is 100% secure; absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
7. Your Rights and Choices
You may:
Request access, correction, or deletion of your data
Revoke HealthKit permissions in Apple Health
Request account deletion by contacting us
We honor applicable data protection rights under laws such as GDPR and CCPA/CPRA where applicable.
8. Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction).
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Fitness Disclaimer
Bhalam is a fitness and workout tracking application. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before making health-related decisions.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted in the App or on our website with a revised effective date.
