Why are we hosting this event?
Many of us feel there has been a lack of community and connection in the graduate student body, particularly in recent years. Having strong relationships with other grad students is important for improving our academic and research experiences, but more importantly, for improving our mental health and social support systems.
With this trip, and other plans for the year, we are hoping to foster stronger bonds between graduate students in our department and with other departments. We hope this trip will allow new incoming grad students (and ones from 2020 who didn't get to meet anyone!) to begin forging friendships with their cohort and with returning grad students, and allow the returning grad students to expand their friendships and connections!
