Greg is willing to run it but we will need to share it.
Mrs. Bacon will look into how we can share the fundraiser out. We can possibly make a flyer and hand it out through the Superintendent’s office to the different buildings.
We will consider setting it up for this year. Greg will start to work on the flyer and we will discuss how we would like to have it look. We will discuss further how any raised funds will be used and how that will be conveyed to the any donors.

Tuesday May 3rd is the teacher appreciation luncheon. Greg is going to cook the meal for the teachers which saves us over $300. He will bring soft tacos as well as hard. We will still buy Queso dip for them. The luncheon will be in the library. Greg will arrive at 10:15. Julie Burton and Amanda Parish will come to help at 10:30. A sign up genius was sent out for desserts, plasticware and plates. The plasticware and plates are set but no one else has signed up. There are 80-90 staff members.
Senior signs – we ordered 65 which are done. Debi picked the signs up Friday. We are unsure of the cost as we have not been billed yet. Terri will hand them out Friday afternoon and then Sandy said we could leave them in the office.
The Scholarship awards is May 4 at the PAC. Greg will speak. We only had 2 students who applied. Discussed that the number of scholarship applications are down for several groups. Amanda McBride knows Greg is presenting. Next year may just say that there are $1000 worth of scholarships available and then the scholarship committee can decide how to divide the money among the applicants. The scholarship amounts could vary depending on how many apply.
The Art Show is May 14th (?) in the store front 244 Main Street, 11a-3pm. The PTO buys some art and then donates it back to the school. It usually lasts a couple hours. Not all art is for sale.
When do we need the student gift cards for the year – unsure what we need and when.
The number of students going to after prom is low this year and it may end up being cancelled. There are around 125 students signed up right now to attend.
We have $3500 roughly in the bank minus pending expenses.

Show people what the signs look like.
We do not have to speak at the PAC – they will show the video we made for 2021
Senior scholarships
Amanda McBride contacted Veronica Urban about this. Seniors watched the videos and received information on Jan 27th regarding local scholarships.
We receive applications on February 22nd.

May 4th 7pm – Local Scholarship Awards Night at 7pm in the PAC
Nominating Greg Shepherd
We give away 4 scholarships - $250 dollars each
Senior family has to be a paid member of the PTO to be eligible.
Senior signs
Last 2 years we have purchased the senior signs. Terri and Deb recommend we not pay for them this year.
The signs are usually $10 each from BG Graphics.
Debra recommended we have the Seniors pre-order the signs.
Terri still has at least 30 of the signs from last year – unsure if Andrew will be able to adjust the signs so we can still use them.
Recommend doing it as an online order and to have people do it as a friend of family to help with Paypal fees.
Debra will create the order form and the letter to send to parents.
They will reach out to the art teacher to design a new sign
Possibly increase the cost of the senior signs to use the money to cover the senior signs.
Will check with Andrew to see the cost of the senior signs.
The teachers really appreciated the coffee and bagels. He only charged us $97 for everything.
We are going to send out a general treat sign up for Valentine's Day.
We sold 169 pawprint signs at $50 and 6 at $55 because they were late.
Our sign cost is $30.
He couldn’t get the same stakes. The new stakes seem to be better and more durable.
We haven’t discussed if our cost of the signs is going to go up from him and will we adjust what we are charging for the signs.
Considering allowing people to order signs early at the 8th grade night but they will not be delivered until fall with the other signs. This will allow people to spread out their costs.
Increase the cost of the Pawprint signs depending on what Andrew is going to charge us for the signs.
Possibly consider $60 depending on what he says.
Our balance is a little over $2500
We still have to pay $1000 for scholarships, purchases from the art show, teacher appreciation luncheon banquet in May (we get it catered but parents donate desserts)
Teacher Appreciation banquet
We feed the teachers and staff, approx. 70 people or so
It was around $1000 last year for El Zarape.
We will need volunteers for this as well.
Grants
We have so far given $4609 in grants this year which is much more this year
We have no more money for grants this year.
We won’t be able to give any grants until at least September once we receive the sign money.
Maybe put a limit on the grants for next year and let teachers know we have limited funds.
Shared thank you notes from Mrs. MacIntosh and Mrs. Kern.
Next meeting is April 25th
BGHS PTO Meeting 9/20/21

We have sent out emails to the parents for the signs
We have 2 signs free. We asked the counselors for 2 names and would like to do one for the Torres family.
We have approved one mini grant and got 2 more applications – Mr. Ross and Mrs. Tessler for books.
Both are to have the right reading level for their students.
Mr. Ross teaches a large range of students.
Mrs. Tessler – intervention specialist and 2 English classes.
We approved the 2 mini grants.
We bought art from the art show last year. We still need to finish paying the students.
Stu Crew – last year gave $115, we would like to repeat the $115 grant this year
Mr. Black asked us to help with rewards for teachers. Thinking - $20 for each teacher each quarter.
Total of $200 for the year. Consider Downtown Dollars or Elite Collegiate Amanda Parish will pick them up.
Homecoming is different this year – reached out to Stu Crew and they are still figuring things out. Still don’t want backpacks and things like that coming in. Looking to do on the softball/baseball field Using Robin Short EZ Plus DJ equipment and kids can select music Lights, Inflatables – more directed to the order kids, Dunk tank, Yard game tournaments Adult volunteers to run the yard games. Possible large inflatable screen.
Greg Shepherd is interested to be on the board and take the Treasurer spot. – This is Deb’s last year. Have Greg come on as Vice President and then observe the Treasurer to take over next year.
We have someone to fill the scholarship chair.
First teacher appreciation is Halloween. Will send the names of volunteers to us soon.
The staff has debriefed about the bomb scare earlier this week. The police just didn’t want the exact wording to be released. Will not release the locations of evacuation.
Wood County is the lowest of the schools around for Covid cases. Wood County – 62% of the residents have had both shots.

There are 2 pawprint signs that are left over from last year and can be donated. Terri Brand will talk with the counselors to see which students may be in need.
This year students must pre-pay for their pawprint signs.
High School Registration is August 16-19 from 8-3 and we need people to man the registration table.
Fan Fair
The PTO usually assists with collecting pop, water, chips, cookies, plates and napkins.
Terri Brand will talk with the new coach and Athletic Director to see if they still plan to do a Fan Fair and if they want the PTO’s help.
Mini Grants – go out in August to the teachers. In the past there has been an end date for the grants but last year no date was put on the application and that was preferable. There will not be a monetary limit placed on the grants.
The budget for the Mini grants was set at $2500-$3000.
Homecoming was discussed as well -The PTO usually runs a Coat check in the small gym. We write numbers on bags that match bracelets that are given to the students.
The PTO also buys $5 gift cards for the Pep rally up to about $25.
There was discussion about the senior scholarship applications to possibly weight or give preference to applicants whose parents have been paying members of the PTO all 4 years. This could be more easily accomplished since better records are being kept now. No final decision was made.
Future meeting dates were set as
September 20th at 7pm
January 24th at 7pm
April 25th at 7pm
