Professional Biography
My name is Brittany Fletcher, and I am a 25-year-old creative professional based in Birmingham, United Kingdom. I bring with me over a decade of diverse and immersive experience in the music industry, spanning performance, composition, production, education, and community engagement. My journey as a musician has been shaped by both practice and pedagogy, allowing me to develop a distinctive voice and a multi-faceted perspective on the role of music in both artistic and educational settings.
Academically, I hold a Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning in the Creative Industries, a degree that has deepened my understanding of pedagogical theory, curriculum design, and inclusive learning methodologies tailored for creative disciplines. Through this program, I was able to critically engage with current research, refine my approach to education within the arts, and cultivate a reflective practice rooted in student-centred learning. My academic focus has consistently revolved around empowering emerging creatives, enhancing access to arts education, and exploring the intersection between creativity, culture, and critical thinking.
In September, I will be commencing the next chapter of my academic and professional development by pursuing a Doctor of Education (EdD). This practice-based doctoral degree will enable me to further explore complex questions around creative learning, equity, and innovation in arts education. I am particularly interested in researching how music and creative arts can be harnessed as transformative tools within both formal and informal learning environments—especially for underrepresented or marginalized communities.
As a Birmingham-based educator and practitioner, I am deeply connected to the vibrant and diverse cultural fabric of the West Midlands. I actively seek to contribute to and collaborate with local creative networks, schools, community initiatives, and higher education institutions. My approach to both music and education is underpinned by a commitment to authenticity, inclusivity, critical inquiry, and lifelong learning.
Looking forward, I aim to combine my practical experience in music with advanced educational research to influence policy, reshape curriculum frameworks, and develop innovative models for arts-based learning. My long-term goal is to be a leading voice in the field of creative education, advocating for systemic change that places the arts at the heart of social development and educational reform.
Alongside my work in music and education, I also have a growing passion for fitness and personal development. Although I do not currently hold formal qualifications in this area, I am actively pursuing a body recomposition goal and working closely with a personal trainer to deepen my understanding of nutrition, strength training, and muscle hypertrophy. This journey has not only improved my physical well-being but has also influenced my approach to discipline, goal setting, and holistic health, qualities I bring into both my personal life and professional practice.
