The entirety of Beyond Closed Doors takes place in some sort of facility designed for capturing and analyzing entities.
This room seems to have no purpose. There is no entrance and no proper exit. There is an arch, about the height of the character, leading to another room with a blocked off door, possibly leading to an exit. Back in the starting room, there exists an audio recording (See page "Audio Recordings") laying on what appears to be some desk with a slope holding up the audio recording. The chair is knocked over. The audio recording somewhat explains the situation. Beside the table, there is a staircase of boxes leading up into a carved out hole in the ceiling. It is the entrance to a corridor, leading to some sort of prison.
The maze consists of multiple cells, each with the same dimensions. Some of these cells have holes in them, most likely caused by some sort of creature. All of the holes are close towards the floor and easy to crawl through. The holes indicate that the predator(s) are about the size of a human, just shorter. At the end of the maze, there lies a key leading to a laboratory and spiral staircase. The spiral staircase leads to a corridor, which leads to a wide open area.
This room, most likely a Multi-Purpose Room, is probably the largest room in this entire facility. There are 5 doors. Each one leads to the Lab, the Storage Room, The Master Room, The Maze, and the corridor.
The Laboratory, or Lab for short, is a medium sized area. Scientists definitely conducted experiments on the creatures here. On a table, there exists yet another audio recording. Additionally, there are multiple test tubes. They are all closed, one of which has a spear embedded into it, most likely as a means of attack. The spear might've missed it's target. You can find a lever in the Lab. When pulled, it opens up a gate in the Maze. You can find the key to this room somewhere in the Lab.
When entering the Maze, there would be a third audio recording. The Maze isn't really much of a maze, but rather a giant room with randomly placed pillars. You can find the Storage Room Key in the Maze.
The storage room houses a multitude of crates resting on shelves. None of the crates can be opened. After exploring further into the storehouse, one will notice a fourth audio recording. Soon, one will find the key to the Master Room. However, as the key is collected, a monster (see page "Entities") emerges from the shadows and chases the player. The game then cuts to a Cut-scene. The player runs to the Master Room and shuts the door. He or she then enters an elevator and Chapter 1 ends.
All we know about the Master Room is that it houses an elevator and something that is emitting light in the distance. The elevator leads to the Cavern.
The Cave is a giant cave system, resembling a maze, where unwanted entities are left behind. The cavern has multiple rooms within it.
The cleaver room holds a cleaver resting on a table. The cleaver can be used to cut down blocked off corridors.
The Naoma Key room houses a key which unlocks the Naoma Room. This key is blocked by a door which must be opened by entering a 4 digit code.
The Naoma Room, also referred to as the Escape Room can only be accessed by using the Naoma Key. Once unlocked, you must place your cleaver on the table and begin. You will suddenly be greeted by a 7 minute count down and must find 4 artifacts. There are 4 sections that you can search to gather the artifacts. After finding all 4 artifacts and placing them on their pedestals, a door will open. This door leads to the Poort Key.
The Poort Room is the largest room in this chapter. You must travel through a long corridor engulfed by shadows to get there, After reaching the Poort Room, you will notice 3 spaces inside of it. One to the left, one that you are currently in, and one blocked off by a door which you must open by decoding a puzzle. This puzzle can be solved by converting Morse Code into numerical value. Once one has unlocked the door, you will be greeted by a spiral staircase. Upon reaching the top, you will be greeted with a cut-scene.
This cut-scene consists of Herbert emerging from the shadows to try and kill the player. You are then directed to run from Herbert and traverse through some obstacles. After succeeded, the player is greeted with a final cut-scene. The player is capture by Herbert and you fall to the floor. Redness devours your screen as it goes black. After a few seconds, you hear a heartbeat monitor, likely monitoring your own.
