Christine and Brittney hosted our Intellectual Wellness booth at UBTech’s wellness fair, alongside many other great community resources. We loved chatting with high school and college students about how lifelong learning, creativity, and curiosity play a big role in overall wellness.
Each year the Uintah County Fair allows our community to show off their hard work and enterprise. From raising livestock to sewing projects, our community highlighted its talents and skills.
Additionally, community resources also demonstrated some of what they have to offer. We at The Uintah County Library showcased our STEM Discovery Kits and games, which teach science concepts, enhance hand-eye coordination, promote math, strategy, and problem-solving skills. Activities like our Spiro balls, small spherical robots that can be controlled by a computer, and our metal detectors, are just some of the exciting learning kits that library card holders can check out.
Learning is fun! Come explore all the library has to offer!
Summer is coming to an end and school is starting soon. Kids often get nervous about returning to school and look to their stuffies for comfort. So we held a Stuffy Day Camp to help the stuffies know what it’s like to go to school.
We had a fun day of arts and crafts, play time, story time, a tour of the library, and a good nap. We even had a wonderful talent show where every stuffy was able to show off all the fun things they do with their kids.
Many stuffies made new friends and hung out together throughout the day. Some caused a bit of mischief, but overall, it was a great day.
As you are returning to school, remember that change can be scary, but it can also be loads of fun. Have a great year!
This summer, we had over 500,000 minutes of reading as a community. That's more than 11 month's worth of reading! Way to go, Uintah County!
We had so much fun having you all join us for the various crafts and activities throughout the summer. Our world certainly is more colorful now.
We wrapped things up on Tuesday, July 29th. In the morning, the Uintah High School Marching Band joined us for a concert on the lawn. They were joined by the USU Extension who set up a bicycle powered smoothie machine.
That afternoon, the amazing animals of Scales and Tails visited us and taught us about the wonderful creatures that live amongst us. For example, pigeons aren't just rats with wings; they're highly capable birds that can navigate using the Earth's magnetic field. One pigeon, Cher Ami, received both the Croix de Guerre and the Animals in War & Peace Medal of Bravery in WW1 for saving 194 troops by delivering a message despite sustaining injuries.
The reading competition was close with the librarians beating the adults by a relatively narrow margin. Next were the children, followed by the teens. Congrats to all of the winners and a HUGE thanks to everyone who participated. Finally, thank you to our sponsors who made it all possible.
As the summer comes to an end, remember:
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. And the more that you learn, the more places you'll go." - Dr. Seuss
We were able to host Kargi Kala Kendra and her Bharatanatyam Dancers on 6/24/25 as part of our Color our World Summer Reading Program. They taught us about Indian culture and dance, showcasing their beautiful traditions.
Bharatanatyam is a 3000 year old traditional dance style from India that features expressive facial movements, elegant fan-like dresses, and strong postures.
The audience enjoyed watching and participating with the dancers as we celebrated our Colorful World.

We had the privilege to bring an exclusive screening to the library last night, Free For All: The Public Library. It told an amazing story of the quiet revolutionaries who made a simple idea happen. From the pioneering women behind the “Free Library Movement” to today's librarians who service the public despite working in a contentious age of closures and book bans, and to meet those who created a civic institution where everything is free and the doors are open to all.
