The lead convener, Dr. Danilo Madrid Gerona, the Director of the Partido Studies Center and the Magellan-Elcano Studies Center of the Partido State University, is one of the recognized authorities in the Magellan history in the world today. He is the author of the book, Ferdinand Magellan Armada de Maluco and the European Discovery of the Philippines, the first comprehensive book written by a Filipino historian on the Magellan expedition.
He is appointed member of the Panel of Experts by the National Quincentennial Commission organized by Malacanang and of various national and international committees involved in the 500th year celebration. He has given lectures in prestigious universities and learned societies both in the Philippines and in Europe.
