We went to different classes to gather awareness for our Release and Reset event. We had over 120 students from all grade levels fill out a sticky note and throw it in the trash (a bag) as a part of releasing the stress that they have in their lives. We used the data from that event to find the common stressors in our school. The most common stressors include School related stressors such as grades and GPA as well as college applications. We also observed alot of stressors related to extracurriculars.
For this event, we partnered with 4Kidz club to hand out positive note cards during finals week, when stress is highest. These cards reminded students that stress is normal and grades don’t define their worth, helping build community, reduce competition-driven tension, and discourage unhealthy coping behaviors linked to substance use.
Building off our Relax and Rewind Week, our Coloring Event helped students de-stress as we transitioned into the new semester. Students chose a coloring sheet and talked about how they felt about their new classes.
We collaborated with the Letters for Roses team to spread kindness to senior citizens by making handmade bracelets to include with the monthly letters. During this activity, members from both groups worked together to create colorful bracelets with positive messages, which were sent along with the letters to brighten the seniors day. This collaboration allowed us to combine creativity and compassion while strengthening our partnership with Letters for Roses and continuing our goal of promoting emotional well being through small acts of kindness and to combat loneliness.
