Beuth's Additive Lab

Welcome to Professor Jack Beuth's Additive Manufacturing Lab!

Our research group performs Additive Manufacturing (AM) process modeling and experiments, with AM research dating

back 20 years. As part of that work, we have developed Process Mapping methods for representing AM process

outcomes such as melt pool geometry, microstructure and susceptibility to flaw formation in terms of primary AM

process variables.

Direct Metal AM processes function in different regions of P-V space. We are applying Process Mapping to all of them

with AM Makes, NIST, ONR, State of PA, NSF, DOE and private support.

Jack Beuth is the Faculty Co-Director of the NextManufacturing Center, a leading research center for additive manufacturing. The NextManufacturing Center Consortium was launched on July 22, 2016. Be sure to visit the NextManufacturing Center website for more information.
