Jacqueline Nussbaum grew up in Brooklyn, where her immigrant parents always encouraged an appreciation for family, art and the beauty of nature. These values have greatly impacted her artwork by infusing warmth, energy and thought into all that she creates. From paintings that immortalize a family moment, to the holy sites of Israel, to the colors and textures of a coral reef beneath the sea, Jacqueline’s paintings share with the viewer the times and places that bring joy to her life.
After studying a year abroad, Jacqueline received her degree in Computer Science and worked as a systems analyst at a blue chip financial institution. While her career choice doesn’t sound very “creative”, she has found that her “math brain” has been put to good use in her artwork. Curiosity, problem solving skills, and analytical thinking combined with a love of color and shapes, are all part of her creative process.
Jacqueline was raised to believe that any G-d given talents should be used for helping others and improving the world. She has served as a volunteer mentor for TOVA Mentoring. While spending time with her mentees, she has used art activities to help them express their emotions and relieve anxiety. Jacqueline also volunteers at SIBS place where she has assisted in their art therapy room and worked on scenery for their many holiday events. She teaches art to children one on one as well. She finds that children benefit greatly from the individual attention and the ability to express themselves non-verbally.
While having had no formal art training, Jacqueline has attended classes at several local art schools. She is a member of the Art Guild as well as the Long Beach Art League. Most recently, she had a solo art show at the Peninsula Library for the month of May. She was also featured as the October artist on the Hewlett Woodmere Virtual Art Gallery. Her paintings have been displayed at the Long Beach and Rockville Center libraries and the Art Guild.
Jacqueline is constantly inspired by her family, her heritage and nature’s art. Her phone is filled with photos she’s taken of beautiful places and beautiful moments, waiting to be immortalized in her next creation.
