Between and Beyond: AI, Identity and You — Civil Society Organizations Edition
On May 26th 2026, we organized a half-day participatory workshop at FARI Institute in Brussels as part of the Citizen Engagement Hub "Bridging Technology and Society" series. Designed for civil society organizations and community practitioners, the workshop explored how AI systems categorize identity and created space to collectively imagine more inclusive alternatives.
The morning included a knowledge sharing session on how AI systems work and where identity gets lost in classification, an individual reflection activity, a gallery walk, a speculative design session in groups, and a collective manifesto written together in real time.
This initiative has been funded by the ERDF and the Brussels Capital-Region
Collective Manifesto
This manifesto was written collectively during the workshop "Between and Beyond: AI, Identity and You" at FARI Institute in Brussels, on May 26th 2026. It brings together the voices of civil society practitioners who spent the morning mapping how AI systems categorize and exclude, and imagining what could be different
