Effective Date: May 24, 2026
BetterPlayer is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Chrome Extension, BetterPlayer, handles your information.
1. Information We Do Not Collect BetterPlayer is designed with privacy in mind. We do not collect, transmit, store on external servers, or sell any of your personal information, browsing history, or user data.
2. Local Data Processing All core functionalities of the extension—including the audio equalizer, playback speed adjustments, visual filters, and auto-suspension of tabs—are processed entirely locally on your device within your browser. No data ever leaves your computer.
3. Permissions To function correctly, BetterPlayer requires specific browser permissions (such as activeTab, tabs, tabCapture, and scripting). These permissions are used strictly to:
Apply audio and video enhancements to the media you are currently consuming.
Manage your open tabs to save system memory.
Ensure background processes (like the audio equalizer) continue running seamlessly. None of the information accessed via these permissions is collected or shared by us.
4. User Preferences Any settings you configure within BetterPlayer (such as your chosen theme, saved equalizer presets, and custom timers) are saved locally using your browser's built-in storage (chrome.storage.local and chrome.storage.sync). If you are signed into your browser, these settings may sync across your devices via your Google account, but we have no access to this data.
5. Changes to This Privacy Policy We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top.
