A place ID is a textual identifier that uniquely identifies a place. The length of the identifier may vary (there is no maximum length for Place IDs). It is possible for the same place or location to have multiple different place IDs. Place IDs may change over time.

You can use the same place ID across the Places API and a number of Google Maps Platform APIs. For example, you can use the same place ID to reference a place in the Places API, the Maps JavaScript API, the Geocoding API, the Maps Embed API and the Roads API.

A common way of using place IDs is to search for a place (using the Places API or the Places library in the Maps JavaScript API, for example) then use the returned place ID to retrieve place details. You can store the place ID and use it to retrieve the same place details later. Read about saving place IDs below.

We recommend refreshing place IDs if they are more than 12 months old. You can refresh Place IDs at no charge, by making aPlace Details request, specifying only the place IDfield in the fields parameter. Places API (New)

This call triggers thePlace Detail New (IDs Only) orPlaces Details - ID Refresh SKU. However, this request might also return NOT_FOUND status code. One strategy is to store the original request that returned each place ID. If a place ID becomes invalid, you can re-issue that request to get fresh results. These results may or may not include the original place. The request is chargeable.

The INVALID_REQUEST status code indicates that the specified place ID is not valid. INVALID_REQUEST may be returned when the place ID has been truncated or otherwise modified, and is no longer correct.

The NOT_FOUND status code indicates that the specified place ID is obsolete. A place ID may become obsolete if a business closes or moves to a new location. Place IDs may change due to large-scale updates on the Google Maps database. In such cases, a place may receive a new place ID, and the old ID returns a NOT_FOUND response.

Look into government resources. Federal, state, and local governments offer many resources for older adults and their families and caregivers. To help users discover and connect to the places around them, Google supports a wide range of local businesses and places of interest on the map. In addition to places that are removed because they are prohibited or restricted, places may also be removed because they are deemed ineligible for our Google Maps and Search products.

Places or listings are used to represent public businesses and places of interest found in the real-world. They should be named entities that can be discovered and interacted with by users. Here are some examples of places that can be added to the map:

The object is available for expansion with ?expansions=geo.place_id to get the condensed object with only default fields. Use the expansion with the field parameter: place.fields when requesting additional fields to complete the object.

In the following request, we are requesting fields for the place object attached to the Tweet on the Tweets lookup endpoint. Since place is a child object of a Tweet, the geo.place_id expansion is required. Be sure to replace $BEARER_TOKEN with your own generated Bearer Token.

The place-self CSS shorthand property allows you to align an individual item in both the block and inline directions at once (i.e. the align-self and justify-self properties) in a relevant layout system such as Grid or Flexbox. The second, third, and fourth grid items are then given different values of place-self, to show how these override the default placements. Pole placement is a method of calculating the optimum gain matrix used to assign closed-loop poles to specified locations, thereby ensuring system stability. Closed-loop pole locations have a direct impact on time response characteristics such as rise time, settling time, and transient oscillations. For more information, see Pole Placement.

K = place(A,B,p) places the desired closed-loop poles p by computing a state-feedback gain matrix K. All the inputs of the plant are assumed to be control inputs. place also works for multi-input systems and is based on the algorithm from [1]. This algorithm uses the extra degrees of freedom to find a solution that minimizes the sensitivity of the closed-loop poles to perturbations in A or B.

For this example, assume that all the state variables cannot be measured and only the output is measured. Hence, design an observer with this measurement. Use place to compute the estimator gain by transposing the A matrix and substituting C' for matrix B. For this instance, select the desired pole locations at -2 and -3.

In high-order problems, some choices of pole locations result in very large gains. The sensitivity problems attached with large gains suggest caution in the use of pole placement techniques. See [2] for results from numerical testing.

You can use place for estimator gain selection by transposing the A matrix and substituting C' for matrix B as follows, as shown in Pole Placement Observer Design. You can use the resultant estimator gain for state estimator workflows using estim.
