Eagles Stay Perfect in Clash with Dutchmen
It was another close contest and another hard-fought victory for Bethlehem MOD9, who defeated crosstown rivals Guilderland Friday by the score of 1-0.
Coach Frese's Bethlehem squad looked poised and confident in their third game of the 2025 campaign as they battled their perrenial rivals on a warm, sunny late summer afternoon. The Eagles had the run of play for the majority of the game, with the midfield players and forwards linking up nicely to create scoring chances, including a shot by Alex Villasenor that was stopped by the Dutchmen keeper. Bethlehem's defense also shined, with center backs Nick Coscio-Thiel and Walker Prusik providing a steady, physical presence.
The sides seemed likely to head into halftime level when Bethlehem were awarded a free kick just outside the Guilderland penalty area with one minute remaining. Owen Griesbach stepped up to take the set piece and launched a blast inside the post to the Dutchmen keeper's right to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead.
The game would become increasingly physical in the second half, with both sides trading hard tackles and fouls. Bethlehem continued to knock at the door but were continually frustrated, as efforts by Ozan Tas and Griesbach went high and wide. Keeper Jason Coup and the Eagles team defense continued to stifle the Dutchmen and the game ended 1-0.
The Eagles held a 58%-42% advantage in possession and recorded 6 shots (2 on goal) to the Dutchmen's 3 (2 on goal). Corner kicks were 3-1 in Bethlehem’s favor, and the Eagles committed 7 fouls to Guilderland's 14. The win is the third for the Eagles, who head into next Friday's clash with Columbia undefeated and having allowed no goals.

Late Goal Gives Eagles the Win in Home Opener
Bethlehem Boys MOD9 Soccer battled a feisty Albany High team for the full 60 minutes Friday, getting a dramatic late goal to win 1-0 in their home opener.
Both teams came out on the front foot, exchanging early chances. Evan Ackerman, Jorby Consatnt, Alex Villasenor, and Jackson Cooley all tallied efforts on frame for the Eagles in the opening half, while keeper Jason Coup was called on to make two saves in the Bethlehem net.
The Eagles demonstrated notable improvements in organization and composure in their second game, and increasingly controlled possession as the game wore on. The Falcons' efforts to mount offense were repeatedly stifled by the Bethlehem backline.
The game seemed destined to end in a draw when Eagles defender Evan Doyle provided some late theatrics. With five minutes remaining, Doyle won the ball just outside the Albany penalty area, took a touch, and launched a screaming shot tthat found the upper right corner to stun the Albany crowd and give the jubilant Bethlehem squad a 1-0 lead.
That lead was nearly doubled when Albany was called for a handball in the box late in the contest. But the stingy Falcons keeper made a great save on Cooley's spot kick and the game ended 1-0.
Coup earned the clean sheet for Bethlehem, their second of the season. The Eagles held a 60%-40% advantage in possession and recorded 10 shots (8 on goal) to the Falcons' 2 (2 on goal). Corner kicks were 7-3 in Bethlehem’s favor, and the Eagles committed 1 fouls to Schenectady's 6.

MOD9 Eagles Open with Road Win
Bethlehem Boys MOD9 Soccer opened their 2025 campaign with a tough road win vs. Schenectady.
Bethlehem applied pressure throughout the opening minutes, and quickly earned a penalty kick when Eagles forward Owen Griesbach was hauled down in the box. Griesbach took the resulting spot kick and made no mistake, beating the Patriots keeper to make it 1-0.
Jackson Cooley opened his account for the Eagles shortly after with a blistering bar-down strike from the top of the box that found the Schenectady net to make it 2-0.
Much of the game that followed was dominated by back and forth play as the teams worked to establish their rhythms in this early season contest. Bethlehem controlled the majority of posession and mounted several attacks, resulting in shots from Che Bruno, Marcel Sautron, Sebastian Carracscal and Evan Doyle. But the tough Schenectady squad and their talented keeper were able to foil the attacks, including Bruno's effort that was cleared off the line by a defender.
The Eagles finally broke the resolve of the hosts, when Connor Barrowman broke through for a breakaway on goal. The keeper came charging out to make the initial save, but was left too far out when Ozan Tas lofted the rebound in from well outside the box to add another goal for the visitors. 3-0 would be the final.
Jason Coup and Sawyer Montag combined to in goal for the Bethlehem clean sheet. The Eagles held a 54%-46% advantage in possession and recorded 9 shots (6 on goal) to the Patriots' 2 (2 on goal). Corner kicks were 4-0 in Bethlehem’s favor, and the Eagles committed 3 fouls to Schenectady's 4.
