Meet your teachers

Morah Amy Yashaev

I am Morah Amy and I am so excited to teach you this year! I am have been married for 15 years and am a mother to two boys, Avi (10) and Liam (4). I enjoy spending my time watching movies and reading, sitting in my back yard, trying new restaurants and cooking for my family. I converted to Judaism in 2004 prior to getting married and just learned Hebrew this year, thanks to my mother-in-law. I previously taught Judaic studies at Temple Israel from 2005-2016 in the 3rd/4th grade classroom. I am a teacher specialist for Norfolk Public Schools working with students with disabilities.

Morah Rita Yashaev

Hello,

I am Morah Rita, and I am so happy to co-teach 4-5th graders this year along with my daughter--in-law, Morah Amy. Also, I am going to teach mid-week Hebrew.

I just retired this school year after teaching for more than 30 years at public, private, and religious school settings. I have taught English, Hebrew, and Russian in the former Soviet Union, Israel, and United States.

I have two sons and two grandsons, who are students at our Sunday School.

I enjoy reading, teaching, spending time with my grand kids, and shopping.

I am hoping for an awesome school year as we embark on Judaic Studies and mastering prayers during the three hours of Sunday School!
