"Corner of My Mind"
To me this project represented my personality vs my inner mind.
From the outside, the big top is a wild mix of color, almost like a rainbow stitched together from scraps, each piece a little worn, but somehow all fitting just right. It might look chaotic at first glance, like someone threw together whatever they had lying around. But there’s a strange harmony, like every piece belongs in that puzzle. It grabs attention, loud and proud.
Step inside, though, and everything shifts. It’s quieter. The colors are softer, more muted, and the space feels almost serene. Controlled. Safe. It’s like walking into a different world. A world that doesn’t need to shout to be understood. That difference isn’t random. It’s a choice. A reflection of how things are.
People often see me as outgoing, always chatting, always smiling. I don’t mind that is how people perceive me, I’ve leaned into that version of myself. But there’s a quieter part of me that most people never get to see. The part that finds comfort in stillness and safety in simplicity.
It’s like there’s this steel frame holding everything together. On the surface, it might seem tough, maybe even a little closed off. But inside, there’s something softer, something that moves and breathes more gently. That tension between the hard and the soft, the bright and the calm, it’s kind of how I move through the world. Not pretending, just protecting.
The little details, the contrast between outside and in, the way it’s built, and the story it tells. One that most people probably miss unless they stop to look.
"Wandering Soul"
This sculpture is a representation of a spirit in motion, travelling from place to place. Restlessly roaming through realms of existence trying to find something or someone. Tied down by past experiences that are holding it back from achieving something greater. Its form is trying to float away but it is being eroded by the past. The piece is riddled with holes and knots that show signs of wear, expressing the physical signs of its previous existence. The beads are the ‘chains’ that are keeping it tied to this reality, weighing down its ability to flow freely.
I tried to use materials that have been around for centuries to really communicate when in time this piece could have been created. Plaster has been used in building construction and decoration for thousands of years. Burlap has a history as a durable fabric used in various applications, including construction and even religious practices. The two have been intertwined in construction, with plaster being reinforced with burlap to create durable and decorative elements. Indigo dye is among the oldest and most well-known natural dyes, its celestial tone often symbolized mystery and the unknown. Many believe that it is a way to seek a deeper connection to your inner soul.
"Aphrodite's Shellphone"
Greek goddess of beauty, love, and sexual desire. Birthed in the ocean. She exudes feminine energy that attracts many lovers. I interpret this phone as her special phone for them.
Deep reds and purple extend the inside of the shell. I love how the colors are almost human, mimicking the color of our hearts and female anatomy. The phone acts almost as a coral reef housing signs of love; a ring, roses, a pair of dolphins, a cupid, a locket, and a watch. The entire structure is encased in gloss to make it appear constantly wet like it came straight from the ocean. On top of a wooden shelf wrapped in dainty pink lace, balancing the hard vs soft along with the phone.
Prosthetic Inhibitor and Performative Wearable
While making this piece I was really thinking about women’s standards and how they interfere with how we live our lives.
I wanted to make something restrictive that still posed my body in a way that reflects society's preferences. The leg pieces symbolize heels that exaggerate my posture, this leads me to make a back piece that entraps me to standing up straight. The hand holder is meant to represent how our hands have been tied throughout history.
I just wish I had taken a video of me putting all of it in because that in itself was a performance.
"Strata"
This freeform tapestry is a metaphorical geographic stratification for all the years of our human development. Our growth and development may not be visible lines, but we still convey our experiences through the way we interact with one another. We are mere extensions of our natural environment that influences our daily lives. How can we learn from our environment and build upon these layers to solidify our ground?
"Sympathy"
I was given two words for this project: abstract and sympathy. This piece shows two 'beings' that are involved in the act of sympathy. The shape on the left is the one in turmoil, feeling something that has disturbed its system. This is why the thread is in disarray. While the shape on the right is offering sympathy to the other and trying to comfort it. Sympathy is not feeling the other's emotion, it's about recognizing it and having compassion. That is why the right figure does not share the same chaos as the left, but it does show some understanding. And the rings connecting them represent the connection flowing through them.
I wrote an article about societies views on Museums for West Virginia University's Mirage Magazine. Working with the Art Museum and being enrolled in the Museum in Society class opened my eyes to the controversies surrounding the field.
I was also lucky enough to model for the cover and more!!

Bronze casting of my tapestry and mask. This piece is meant to represent how women's work in textiles has become a forgotten craft. Left to erode, traditional practices have been abandoned to favor our fast consumption.
The inspiration behind this chair were tapestries and web lawn chairs. The process of welding, woodworking, and weaving blended together has created a functional and artistic piece.
Forged and welded this massive baby mobile. Crafting abstract symbols of the sun, moon, star, clouds, and rain. My first time working with steel so it was a learning process but I feel in love with it.
Collaboration with Jool Gilson and her students in Cork Ireland. We were tasked with discussing the importance of memories textiles hold.
First time using wood as a medium. Wanted to play with volume and dimensionality and how it relates to perspective.
Getting used to following patterns and using a sewing machine
I was lucky enough to go on a study abroad to Europe, I documented my travels in this journal. The trip was focused on Western Architecture & Landscapes
Using methods like Sashiko to mend my old jeans that had some wear and tear.
I wrote an article about Senior Cords for West Virginia University's Mirage Magazine. It was such a great experience researching, writing, and creating for this excerpt.

This piece is made out of recycled materials creating one chosevive and sustainable tapestry. It took around 100 hours to complete. It was recently accepted into the Student Juried Exhibition at WVU.
