About Us

Bethany LionS club

Bethany Lions club was established on March 6, 1952 and for 68 years we have been working to serve our community. We provide over $11K in scholarships for graduating local students going to college, and emergency funds for Bethany residents. The Bethany Lions Club organizes the Memorial Day Parade for the town, our 6 months weekly Flea Market at the Airport, Bethany Lions Charity Auction, Horse Show, and Eye and/or hearing screening for the residents at Bethany Annual Health Fair, eye screening at Bethany Community School as well as a semiannual Document shredding event. We participate in the Bethany Harvest Festival and provide gifts for the raffle draw, run the Blood Donation Program of Red Cross at Bethany Town Hall and partners with the Bethany Fire Department with the annual Halloween Trunk or Treat. We sponsor and are actively involved in our Leo Club at Amity Middle School located in Bethany, CT.
Bethany Lions Club provides monetary support to local civic and charity organizations, e.g., Bethany Garden Club, Clark Memorial Library, Bethany Historical Society, Bethany Volunteer Fire Department, Bethany Athletic Association and town youth activities (e.g., Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Little league). It has made several contributions for the Bethany Veteran Memorial Park Pavilion and Lakeview Lodge. We regularly collect eyeglasses and hearing aids for LCI to be recycled among the needy around the world. We have a drop-off box at the recycling center, Bethany Town Hall, Webster Bank, Clark Memorial Library, Amity Middle School and Bethany Community School.
Beyond the town, it regularly supports Lions District activities in the State of Connecticut, such as Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation (CLERF), Lions Eye Health & Screening Program (LEHP), Lions Low vision, Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, Connecticut Radio Information Service (CRIS) and Diabetes Awareness. We continue to support the international charity activities sponsored by Lions Clubs International (LCI) through its charity foundation (LCIF). Bethany Lions Club contributes generously to LCIF’s major relief efforts It continues to contribute to LCI’s world-wide efforts on maintenance of eye health and preservation of sight related activities.
