As I'm writing this, I have just a few days before my final exam for my CSIT101 class. This website was thrown together for the purpose of hosting my assignments and demonstrate my lack of web designing skills. As for this project, I can't really say I'm too enthralled. I mostly view it as busy work to get done for a grade, and some of the other assignments were a pain for me. Especially the Digital Group Project. I'm not too enthralled with group work to begin with, nor did I find a group partner for myself (probably because I didn't wanna bother anyone and people found their partners in less than a minute and left). I was told to put a message on a discussion board, but judging from the attendance of the class and how the class size was cut more than half over time, I didn't expect anything from begging on the discussion board. That time would have been better spent actually working on the Digital ""Group"" project, rather than bothering with a niche discussion board that I don't even use unless I have to.
However, some projects were pretty fun for me as well. The virtual computer build taught me alot about the main components of a computer in general, and gave me a rough idea on how to put together a potential computer of my own in the future. I'm satisfied with the laptop I'm using right now, it can play the Crash N. Sane trilogy at 60 frames per second with a charger plugged in, and I just upgraded it with a M.2 Sata SSD, so I have two extra terabytes to work with and has expanded my game library greatly. But I think my favorite project was the project about Copyright. The subject matter just allowed me to show off some stuff I like and explore the internet beyond the big content generating sites, like YouTube. I got to explore file types a little bit, and got to soft-geek out about some of my own interests.
As for the entire course itself, I am definitely more invested than most of my other classes, especially math. SIMPaths and Excel are a choir, but learning about proper headers, text types like Headings for organization, and learning more about the internet; a digital landscape that I spend alot of time on, was quite interesting to me. This has also made my work with other classes easier and more professional looking, as well. Especially my English class. Learning that Word has a built in Bibliography and using Headings to organize my text has made my workflow much easier to deal with. Overall, I'm satisfied with what I've learned in this class, and I hope I do well on the final exam.
