Best Place To Download [REPACK] Comics

I really want to find the best place before I devote a large portion of my time to this. Webtoons seems to be the obvious choice but it has a different kind of panel format I'm not sure if I can get behind. But maybe I can get used to it if its the obvious option.

For comics I use Corel Painter. I used Manga Studio before because Corel Painter was a bit pricey for me, but I found this page with discounts and coupons and I bought Painter for a much lower price, and thank God I did, I find Painter to be much better and easier for comics :)

Entertainment industry veteran Carr D'Angelo opened Earth-2 Comics in 2003. Since then, the Sherman Oaks shop has earned accolades like the Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award, given out at Comic-Con to an individual retailer "who has done an outstanding job of supporting the comics art medium both in the community and within the industry at large"; and "Best Place to Stock Up on Graphic Novels" by LA Weekly. In 2009, Earth-2 opened a second location in Northridge.

Opened in December 2008, Emerald Knights Comics & Games boasts more than 3,000 square feet of comics, games, t-shirts, and graphic novels. There's also a 1,500 square-foot gaming area on the second floor - recent events include Magic the Gathering, 40K Warhammer, Pokemon, Digimon, My Hero Academia, and D&D.

Arguably LA's most famous comic book store, Golden Apple Comics was founded by Bill and Sharon Liebowitz in 1979 and is now in its second generation of ownership. Along with modern comics, back issues and exclusive variants, Golden Apple also offers a large selection of toys, action figures, statues, trading cards and more. LA's OG comic book store, Hi De Ho was established in 1977 and has been owned by partners Geoffrey Patterson Jr, Eddie deAngelini and Mauricio Machuca since 2014. (Patterson also owns Geoffrey's Comics in Torrance.) Renowned for its massive collection of Silver Age, Golden Age, and underground comics, Hi De Ho maintains an eclectic, indie vibe in spite of its elder statesman status. Hi De Ho also hosts frequent creator events that celebrate diversity - Pride-Con took place in June 2022 and featured Prism Comics and Stacked Deck Press; and in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, signings included Rafael Navarro, Javier Hernandez, Maxi Rodriguez, Peter Mellini & Valeria Ontiveros, and Jose Pimiento.

For instance, the Copper Age is debated by some to have taken place from 1981 to 1991, while others suggest that the Modern Age should commence in 1992.

ComicLink operates in a similar way to Heritage Auctions. You can participate in regular auctions or visit a comic book exchange section (where you can set prices for comics). One of the slight drawbacks is that you may sell your comics for less here than you would on Heritage (not 100%, but the probability is high). It has been in operation since 1996 and has built a reputation for providing a secure and efficient online platform for buying and selling comic books.

True to their word, SubZero Comics are willing to pay a fair price for an entire collection of any comic books, not just pre-1970 ones. They can take your comic books from the 80s, 90s, and even 2000s, which is rare, as most buyers prefer old and vintage comic books. They will also travel to you to collect your books (around the northwest within a day), and they pay cash.

CGC stands for Certified Guaranty Company. They were founded in 2000 and exploded onto the scene as the first real authority on comic grading. Introducing standards revolutionized the high-end comics industry, to put it lightly.

Before CGC, if you wanted to sell a valuable comic, you had to get it appraised by a comics dealer or some authority. You could take it to an auction house, but if they didn't have a comics specialist on staff, you never knew what kind of value you would get. Comics dealers could be more reliable, but not always. There was always a risk of an unscrupulous dealer giving a great-quality comic a low grade to convince you to accept a lower offer than the book is worth.

CGC helped do away with massive fraud in the industry simply by offering one centralized, standardized source of authority for comic grading. Their process is impartial, and their grades are consistent, so people trading in comics know what a rating means, more or less.

Most of the reasons for these stories came from the early days when PGX was looking to get a foothold and compete with CGC but didn't have the industry clout to do it. A few bad decisions on their part trashed their reputation for decades to come. There are plenty of horror stories about having comics swapped out with different, less-valuable printings, having grades pumped up, not flagging restored comics, and more. Everyone knows someone with a story like that, but it's tricky to find someone with a first-hand account.

CGC turnaround times are the fastest with "WalkThrough" grading, which is the most expensive, but only takes two days. Express is five days, modern comics are around three weeks (with the fast track in ten days), and their "Economy" grading is nearly a year, 227 days as of this writing, with a fast track option of "only" 35 days.

CGC is the 800-lb gorilla in the grading space, at least for comics. Their slabs are of the highest quality, their grading is considered the most consistent, and they have the most clout. They offer the broadest range of services, the best reputation, and the most authority.

PGX is the best if you need cheaper pricing and faster turnarounds. Unfortunately, their reputation still took a hit in the community, so a PGX-graded book will likely fetch less on sale than the same book.
