Swades is a movie that created waves for reasons more than one, its music definitely being one of them. Dekho Na is an unexplored and vastly unknown number and that is just what makes it so special. Udot Narayn and Alka Yagnik at their best, this song oozes love in every lyric.

This one album is very close to my heart too ? I would rate the saxophone theme and Anjali Anjali are one of THE best compositions from the genius. Even today I listen to these songs at least once day along with other 90s best like Puthya Mugam, Rythm, En swasae Katra, May Madam ,Thiruda Thiruda and Roja

Glad to know that there are people like you who think this way. Whenever I say this, people say I lack sense of music. The latest album Dil Bechara was absolutely disappointing. There are few good compositions of AR Rahman, but definitely they are not the best. Many music directors have come up with better, soulful music.

The tunes would come eventually, including a bombastic synth-pop number, a lovesick ballad, and a winding qawwali-inspired song. The scope of the album solidified Rahman as the preeminent South Asian film composer for the next two decades, and arguably the one with the biggest influence on Western music. It would also become the best-selling soundtrack in Indian film history.

Chinmayi Sripada has sung some of A R Rahman's best compositions -- from Kannathil Muthamittal's Oru Deivam Thanta Poove (Rahman considers this song among the top three in his career), Guru's Tere Bina and Raajhanaa's Ay Sakhi.

The very first song that Vaali wrote for Rahman was a chartbuster. While Vairamuthu penned all the other songs in this 1993-film that marked the debut of director Shankar, Vaali made this song the catchiest of the lot with his lines which had a fair share of English words that reflected the fashion of those days.

While the Rahman-Vaali duo is known for foot-tapping numbers, the lyricist has also written a fair share of romantic songs for the Oscar-winner. And Munbe Vaa has to be the definitive 'love song' from this combo. Once again, Vaali uses simple words that capture the bliss of being in love. With lines like Nilavidam vaadagai vaangi/ Vizhi veetil kudi vaikkalaama, he conjures imagery that is timeless. The lines could easily fit in an MSV number as they do here in Rahman's tune. And that timelessness was Vaali's magic.

The Music of A R Rahman is so popular and loved by all because his songs have a depth meaning in it which makes us feel the song completely. All the songs of A R Rahman remain eternal and not just vanish from the minds of people after some time.

His music is worth listening because A R Rahman is the only Indian Musician to win an Oscar. He has been renowned for redesigning and reshaping contemporary Indian music and has contributed to the success of a great number of films through his music. His all of the Music is something which a person can really to their life. His music has evolved over the years, and his songs are full of melody and rhythm. Rahman is extremely original and does not imitate or copy his creations from the West. music is really worth listening and that is the reason it is popular.

One of the most underrated songs by AR Rahman is 'Tu bole, main bolun', the title song of the movie Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na. Only an artist like Rahman could use elements of jazz in a Bollywood song in such a beautiful and harmonious way. A unique aspect of the song, which separates it from the usual Bollywood songs, is the instrumental in the last minute of the song which uses the trumpet to again show us the talent of Rahman.
