There’s a special art to gift giving. Some people take a lot of pride and consideration in the things they give to others. I am one of those people. It’s not always easy to figure out the perfect gift to give someone though, especially when it comes to the people who seem to have everything already! For those of you who struggle with gift ideas for your loved ones, we’re here to share a unique idea with you – the 5 senses gift. We’ll go over what’s it’s all about and our complete list of ideas for it.
What is the 5-Sense Gift?
The idea behind the 5 Senses Gift is to give 5 gifts to one person – each gift represents one of the 5 senses:
Now that you know what the 5 Senses Gift is about, it’s time to brainstorm some ideas for each sense. I know, if you already have a hard time thinking of one gift, how can you think of 5?! That’s why we’re here to help you with a list of ideas for each sense. Use our ideas to inspire you!
The “taste” gift can obviously be food or drink, but you can also think beyond that and get things that are used in creating taste (i.e. cooking tools). Here are some tasty ideas:
Candy/Chocolate
Snacks
Cookbook
Restaurant reservations
Wine/Beer
Cooking gadgets
Baking supplies
BBQ tools
Cooking class
Edible body oil
Food festival tickets
Wine tasting outing
Meal kit subscription
A “sight” gift can include just about anything that can be seen, so there aren’t too many limits to this one. Here are some good examples of sight gifts:
Movies
Movie tickets
Books
Magazine subscription
Sunglasses
Artwork
Tickets to a play
Picture Collage
Love letter
Lingerie
Tickets to Aquarium/Zoo
Jewelry
Tickets to a sporting event
Watch
The “sound” gift is a little more limiting, but there’s still plenty of good options. Many sound gift ideas stem from music, which can be a big part of a person’s interests. Here are some ideas for sound:
Headphones/Air Pods
Bluetooth speaker
Concert tickets
Music lessons
Vinyl records
Record player
Audio books
Comedy show tickets
Musical instrument
Satellite radio subscription
Spotify subscription
A “smell” gift is super easy if you know the types of scents your recipient enjoys. If not, you can still get a gift that gives off an enjoyable aroma no matter what taste they have. Here are some ideas:
Perfume/Cologne
Lotions/Soaps
Candles
Bath products (bombs, melts, oils)
Flowers
Essentials Oils
Oil burner
Handsoaps
Car fresheners
Hair products
Body scrub
Once you have all of your gifts, it’s fun to figure out how to present them. It’s best to separate each one into a bag or wrapped box and label them with each corresponding sense. This makes it more fun too, as the person can choose which “sense” to open first.
For Donny’s gift, I purchased 5 matching bags in a couple different sizes and made my own labels for them. I like the look of matching bags because you can tell they all go together. It’s okay to mismatch too! A different colored bag for each sense could work as well!
