How do I qualify to receive boarding or sheltering services for my best friend pet?

We receive many requests, and we wish we could help everyone, as there are so many instances when an individual may need assistance or temporary housing for their best friend. Unfortunately, we cannot assist in all cases.

As Peer Support Specialists, we assist peers during their recovery journey, whether mental health, substance use, or domestic violence.

When an individual is receiving treatment for mental health or substance use disorders in an approved facility or when an individual is residing in a domestic abuse/sexual assault shelter, we can help! We are also here when an individual is being placed in the hospital on a 72-hour hold, or similar situations in our region.

Where will my pet stay while I'm receiving treatment for myself?

Most pets stay with us at the Dayton Doggie Dude Ranch. However, sometimes we might be full and will use a pet foster home.

Will this cost me anything?

We do accept donations, but we want you to focus on your recovery. We do not charge for our services through the Dayton Doggie Rescue Ranch.

Is this a business or a nonprofit? I'm confused!?

Good question! It does get confusing!

The Dayton Doggie Dude Ranch is a business. It helps us keep the lights on and bills paid. We are a doggie boarding facility for families going on vacation! However, we are in the process of trying to transition our facility to primarily being for the Best Friend Project, if funding comes through. The boarding side may be closing in 2024.

The Dayton Doggie Rescue Ranch is a 501c3 nonprofit. Through that we created the Best Friend Project to assist our peers when they need treatment by providing loving shelter for their best friends so they can focus on recovery. We also provide owner training on proper pet care, assistance with emergencies when we are able, Peer guidance, community outreach, and more!

How will my best friend get to you?

We will come to you, pick them up, and bring them back, anywhere in Webster and surrounding counties! We have reliable transportation and can safely transport your pet for you!

Our region includes the following counties:

Webster, Pocahontas, Humboldt, Wright, Calhoun, Hamilton, Greene, Boone and Story!
