While a reader may think that a book is a book whether it is printed or e-book, they are actually very different things. Publisher excels in creating typographically high quality printed matter using features that mostly would have to be jettisoned when creating e-book version. And e-book, while feature set is very limited, needs to have its programming rules followed very strictly, not a simple task itself. Thus it is at the moment best to use tools developed specially for e-book publishing to get acceptable results.

So, I know that .ebook format is the same as .zip and before to read the book I should unzip .epub file to some directory of app. And here I have got some problems. What should I do with the unzipped files and just original .epub file? What should I delete after reading and closing the book? What should I save, unzipped files or .epub file?Here some decision:

Just read the manual. Calibre does a better job converting docs if they are in the odt format than pdf format. Used the odt version of my document to convert it to epub and everything was converted ok including the images & tables! Now just have to read up some more on fine tuning the final result

Also a good programm is MuPDF viewer I use this for epub pdf cbr cbz files after the download for a quick look at the quality of the books before I deceide if I add them to the library in Book Reader.

Hello. If I enter an epub file to devonthink and have best alternative view option, it only shows some paragraphs only and when I search in the rigth bar inspector, it searches only in these paragraphs.

When I have text alternative view option, it shows the whole epub file and the search works for all the file.

Is it normal behaviour?

So, the first thing to do is to import your PDF file to ABBYY Finereader11. You will get every kind of text format out of it including html and epub. You can spell-check it, edit the font, page setup. Almost everything that Sigil can do. The best of all, ABBYY can remove headers and footnotes (this had been a pain in my ass when I was using Adobe pro to convert PDF to html). The only weakness of the ABBYY Finereader is on the Table of Contents. It can not generate Toc in the epub format. So, to solve this problem (to get Toc in my epub), I use the following two methods.
