Short Bio

I was born on March 1991 in Guayaquil, Ecuador. I got a bachelor’s degree in Economics in July 2014 at the Catholic University of Santiago of Guayaquil. During my undergraduate studies I discovered academia research, and the private sector at Deloitte & Touche Ecuador, as a Transfer Pricing consultant for 3 years. Shortly after, in September 2015, I joined the Toulouse School of Economics to study the Master Program on Public Policy and Development. Inspired by the program, their faculty, and the acquired knowledge, I decided to join the Doctoral program in Economics at the University of Barcelona by Autumn 2016.  During my doctoral studies I have been a visiting PhD student at the Toulouse School of Economics in early 2020. I obtained the degree of Doctor in Economics at the University of Barcelona School of Economics by October 2021. I am currently an Assistant Professor and Researcher at the Centre of Economic Research (CIEC) at the ESPOL Polytechnic University, in Guayaquil. My research interests are health and development economics, with special focus on the newborns, in which I seek to orientate public policy by examining different socio-economic events as (1) air pollution, (2)  criminal activity, and (3) environmental damages.
