This site provides examples of instructional resources created in the Humanizing Online STEM Academy, a professional development program funded by the California Education Learning Lab and administered by the Foothill DeAnza Community College District.
To be certified to teach online courses, I’ve taken a few courses in two different colleges, and participated in several workshops to enhance my knowledge. Before starting this academy, I didn’t know how to create liquid syllabus, and record videos using Adobe Express.
After attending humanizing STEM academy, I feel more confident in creating videos. Adobe Express is an easy and exciting tool when it comes to create short videos. I learned how to create liquid syllabus, add welcome video to my liquid syllabus. Overall, this academy enhanced my knowledge and confidence in teaching online which will be an essential key for an online instructor to improve students' performance.
I am planning to apply all of the information that I learned from this academy in my online classes. My first step is to create liquid syllabus for all my online classes, and create welcome videos. I want to create fun prompt for each module to increase students' participation.
Liquid syllabus and I aimed for a simple and straightforward liquid syllabus, and avoided “too wordy” or “too long” syllabus. This is a preview of my course and I tried to not provide too much information, but instead the most essential information for students.
I selected this course card for statistics course. This course is for business majors and the focus is on statistical analysis, probability, and etc,.... Students will use calculator and various applications to draw charts.
This is a course for business majors focusing on statistical analysis that examines how to distill useful business information by collecting, organizing, and processing data to facilitate business decision-making.
In the "Start here" module, students will complete assignment titled "getting to know you survey."

I've developed a fun prompt for students to share comments about happiness and exam scores. I asked students, if there is any relation between happiness and exam scores.
Students will learn about Empirical Rule, and how to use this rule in real world. For example, they will learn how to find lifespans of animals.
This video explains steps for testing hypothesis regarding three or more means using one way ANOVA. Students will determine null and alternative hypothesis, test statistics, F-distribution, P-value, and compare P-value with level of significance, and finally will decide if they should reject null hypothesis or not.
