Rev. Jimmy Barnes serves as pastor of Bermuda Methodist Church in Monroeville and Hartwood Methodist Church in Range, Alabama. He is passionate about helping people encounter Jesus Christ, grow in their faith, and discover how God is calling them to serve.
A native of Gallion, Alabama, Pastor Jimmy accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior during Vacation Bible School on June 5, 1983. His early years in the Baptist church gave him a strong foundation in Scripture, evangelism, and the importance of a personal relationship with Christ. After moving to Montgomery in 2010, he became part of the Methodist tradition through Frazer United Methodist Church and developed a deeper appreciation for Wesleyan theology and discipleship.
Pastor Jimmy previously served in youth and young-adult ministry at Dalraida Methodist Church and as a youth director at Capitol Heights United Methodist Church. He has also served as a supply pastor within the River Region and Plains District. In May 2024, he began serving Bermuda and Hartwood Methodist churches in his first pastoral appointment with the Global Methodist Church.
He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management in 1995 and a Master of Divinity in 2025. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry with a concentration in discipleship. Pastor Jimmy has also completed Stephen Ministry training and is certified in Mental Health First Aid for both adults and youth. In addition to his pastoral ministry, he serves as office manager at Medical Outreach Ministries, a Christian nonprofit clinic in Montgomery.
His ministry emphasizes biblical preaching, prayer, pastoral care, discipleship, community outreach, and helping small churches grow stronger in their mission. He especially enjoys working with children and youth, serving the community, and cheering for the Georgia Bulldogs.
Pastor Jimmy’s life verse is John 3:30: “He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.”
