We are delighted to welcome you to the 2nd Berlin PhD Conference in Economics: Parallel Workshop in Applied Microeconomics, jointly organized by PhD students from the Berlin School of Economics, DIW Berlin, and WZB. Twenty selected PhD students will present their works on topics on the frontiers of applied microeconomics.
The conference aims to provide a platform for PhD students from all over the world to get together and discuss their research. It is an exceptional opportunity to receive feedback on your work and connect with fellow researchers.
The three-day program of this parallel workshop involves seminar presentations, poster sessions, and invited keynotes by renowned researchers in applied microeconomics. Application and attendance is restricted to one parallel workshop per participant. However, there will be opportunities to connect with participants of the parallel workshop in micro theory and behavioral economics.
We welcome submission of either papers or extended abstracts. To offer a platform for early-career researchers, we only accept submissions from current PhD students (at time of submission) with junior co-authors (who obtained their PhD no earlier than October 2021). Applications are encouraged from across the world and partial financing is available.
Submissions may take the form of papers or extended abstracts, and we welcome submissions of early-stage research. Extended abstracts should be no longer than three pages.
Submission Deadline: January 25, 2026
Notification of Acceptance: March 31, 2026
Conference Dates: July 6–8, 2026
Selected speakers will be assigned a 30-minute slot to present their paper. Each presentation will be followed by a 5-minute discussion led by PhD students or post-docs invited by the Berlin School of Economics, and a 10-minute Q&A session with the audience. Participation at the parallel workshop on micro theory and behavioral economics is not possible.
Lunch, accommodation and a conference dinner during the conference period will be covered by the Berlin School of Economics for invited presenters. We are looking forward to seeing you in Berlin!
