Welcome to First Grade!

Welcome to one of the most incredible years your child will have in his/her school career! This will be my 10th year at South Prairie teaching 1st grade. First grade is an exciting time as children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning. This is a year of important transitions, as well as one in which acquisition of new skills is accelerated. You will be amazed at just how much your child will grow this year. During 1st grade, your child will learn how to read, write stories, add subtract, and so much more. I hope to make your child's first grade year a fun and exciting one and I hope to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your child's years of schooling.

About Me

Hi! My name is Shannon. I graduated from MSU in 1999 with B.S. in Elementary Education. I've worked as a preschool teacher in Mohall for 5 years and 1 year in Laramie, Wyoming prior to my job at South Prairie. I love being a teacher ... and first grade is my dream job! My wonderful husband, Chris and I are the proud parents of seven amazing children. They range in age from 6 to 24 years old.

This is my 10th year teaching first grade at South Prairie! I love to travel with my family, take pictures, go camping, watch our children play sports, and enjoy the outdoors.

I'm looking forward to getting to know my students and their families this year! Your child will bring home a STAR folder daily. Please look through it with your child. You will find reading logs, homework, newsletters, etc.
