Designing the Cabinet

I wanted my machine was a little bigger than the WeeCade, so I could not use their plans. I then decided to build it in cardboard until finding the optimal design; and the same with the control panel, experimenting until obtaining the minimum width but offering comfort to players. Since I don't know woodworking, I researched on the Internet concluding that it would be easiest to use MDF (Medium-density fibreboard).

The truth is that I made the design considering to reuse components that I had: TFT monitor, speakers, an old desktop computer, etc. In case of having used new components, I could have built a less bulky cabinet keeping the same screen and control panel size.

In addition, there are many plans on the Internet more accurate than those designed by me, since I have no experience with CAD software. By putting the plans into practice I encountered some problems, which I solved on the fly but without reflect the changes in the plans. Even so you can download them (see link below), and I hope you can take advantage of something.

Note: There are online stores which sell kits to assemble the cabinet. It's an option if you have problems with the construction, due to lack of tools or knowledge.
