Rich Gottardo
Varsity Baseball Coach
Rich Gottardo took over as the Varsity Head Coach in 2022. Since 2022, the Huskies have compiled a 72-55-1 record with back to back District Championships in 2023 and 2024 as well as back to back Regional Final appearances. Prior to 2022, he was the Junior Varsity Head Coach for 6 seasons at Benzie Central.
Rich pitched at Olivet College in Olivet, Michigan while earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. Prior to attending Olivet College, he graduated from Center Line High School where he was a 4 year Varsity letterman in baseball and football, where he earned All- District, All-Region and All-State honors.
He resides in Benzonia with his wife, Katlyn, and their two children; Colton and Charlotte.
Matt Chandler
Junior Varsity Baseball Coach
Matt took over the JV Baseball Team in 2022. Previously, he coached the middle school team in 2018, 2019, and 2021. Matt has also been part of the Benzie County Summer Baseball League, coaching teams from 2011-2018, and serving on the board for the league since 2016. Coaching has been a passion for Matt, and in addition to coaching baseball, he has also coached basketball for 8 seasons for elementary through high school level teams.
Matt runs a successful electrical business. Outside of that and his coaching duties, he can be found officiating football or basketball during the school year, and playing golf in the summer.
He lives in Beulah with his wife, Gladah, and their four children: Evan (Oakland University), Ethin, Eagon, and Ensley.
