I grew up in a home where we built and fixed things, and loved working with our hands. We surrounded ourselves with colorful, interesting art and people. We also enjoyed history, politics, and pop culture. All of that inheritance shows up in my artwork. No one in my family was a professional artist or creative, but the love of beauty was always there.
A turning point in my artmaking was deciding to go to art school. From a creative and scattered person, I was given the opportunity to focus and hone my craft, and meet many other people on parallel paths who were successful creatives. Seeing many people and their various paths to success in art careers gave me the confidence to try it myself.
My art can be described as playful, colorful, maximalist. My goal as an artist is to bring visual interest into a beige world, to provoke laughter and joy, to make the world a more beautiful and interactive place.
