Words of French origin are highlighted in red, and words of Germanic origin are highlighted in blue. As the user types text into the program, it searches Wiktionary for the etymology of each word. It then searches the etymology data for the desired linguistic category, and if a match is found, the word is highlighted with the corresponding color.

The idea was that if these visualizations could adjust based on user input, I could convey the complexities and interconnectedness of language without requiring the user to have an advanced understanding of linguistics.
