Why Google Classroom?

Smithville has chosen Google Classroom to be the digital platform teacher use at all grades. Having one platform makes streamlining digital learning much easier. As Technology Facilitators we collaborated to developed a list to share with teachers that will help streamline how Google Classroom is being used. Streamlining is important so that students, teachers, and parents will know where to look for assignments at any grade level. The benefit of Google Classroom is there are a TON of different tools that pair well with it in Google and outside sources.

Setting Up Google Classroom

Each bullet point has a video attached that will walk you through the steps.

Teachers can create a Google Classroom
Teachers can enroll students into a class
- - Class code for students can be found in the settings or main stream page in the top left of home banner
  - Teachers can also invite students to classroom by adding student email under the people tab.
Teachers can add a co-teacher
Teachers can invite guardians to Google Classroom
- - - This will give you a little more information about Guardian Summaries
Teachers can email their students through Google Classroom
Teachers can navigate between classes

Posting Assignments/ Classwork Tab

This video will address the following skills. (Student View Of Assignments)

Teacher can assign an assignment to the class and set a due date
Teachers can post documents as a material for student reference under classwork page
Teachers can make a copy of an assignment for each student to work within
Teachers can assign assignments to a group of students instead of the whole class (example- small groups, special education, make up assignments)
Teachers can assign the same assignment/materials to more then one class
Teacher can view, grade, and comment on students work along with monitor progress of students work
