Wes is a 2019 Northeastern graduate who majored in Chemistry and received minors in Mathematics and Biology. In the Choi lab, he is currently working on the development of nanoplatforms ranging from H-Dots to DFO nanoparticles. Wes has optimized the synthesis and characterization of these molecules and is also involved in their in vitro testing and in vivo. Since joining the Choi lab, Wes has been trained to perform in vivo mouse experiments using the FLARE fluorescence imaging system including biodistribution, pharmacokinetics, and toxicity studies. He has also refined his skills in analytical chemistry by characterizing nanoparticles using many techniques such as UV-VIS spectroscopy, NMR spectroscopy, LC-MS, ICP-MS, MALDI, and FPLC/GFC. In addition to this, Wes has taken on the role of Medical Editor, where he edits many manuscripts that come from the Choi lab. Moreover, he has been published in 3 papers thus far, the most notable being “Renal Clearable Theranostic Nanoplatforms for Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors” published in Advanced Materials. Currently, he is leading a project on re-designed H-Dot chemistry and plans on conducting a lead (Pb) nanochelator study in the Choi lab. In the near future, Wes expects to attend graduate or medical school.
