Thesis Seminar: Week 13
Results and discussion II
Recap
Before you begin to write the results and discussion section, consider doing the following first:
Complete your analysis (coding, etc.) of qualitative information and any quantitative data that involves frequencies, counts, averages, etc.
From your completed analysis, determine what to include and exclude in your results and discussion section.
Determine the order of the two-to-four main sections of the results and discussion section.
As you develop body paragraphs (according to the MEAL plan), determine when it's most appropriate to include results and a discussion within the same paragraph and when it's most appropriate to separate the results (i.e., evidence sentences) into one paragraph and the discussion (i.e., analysis sentences) into the following paragraph. Each body paragraph should begin with a topic sentence - main idea - and conclude with either a linking or summarizing sentence.
As you develop the body paragraphs include citations from your references taken from the literature review to compare and contrast any results and/or discussion.
