Introducing Ellyn (Ellie) Terry, the creator of the Benefits Loss Calculator. With a wealth of experience in economic research and policy analysis, Ellyn is passionate about applying research for real world applications.
Ellie's goal with this endeavor is to demystify the social safety net. She aims to peel back the layers of complex government agency rules, empowering individuals to navigate their personal financial landscape options with confidence.
During her tenure at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta ('the Fed'), Ellie focused on understanding how the rules of the social safety net vary across the United States and how this variation has important implications for labor market participation. Notably, she was instrumental in creating the Policy Rules Database, the engine behind this tool.
While at the Fed, Ellie also spearheaded the development of the Guaranteed Income Dashboard, the tool the Benefits Loss Calculator is based on. Using that tool she helped guaranteed income pilot programs across the country provide invaluable insights to approximately 8000 prospective program participants.
Ellyn has a Master's degree in economics from Florida State University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in public policy at the University of Washington.
