Our home gardening site was created by 2020 UCONN Conservation Traning Partnerships (CTP) students Brett, Fatih, and Caleb. With a shared interest in farming, wildlife, and community food security, we designed a conservation project which would combine all these aspects and help improve gardening within the community. This site is designed to help community gardens, community food banks, and people within the community who are interested in starting an at-home garden, by providing insight on the use of beneficial insects and Integrated Pest Management (IPM). It also includes links to other sources which go further in-depth on the information and cover the many other aspects of starting a garden.
A special thanks to the CTP Program coordinator Nicole Freidenfelds and other instructors at the UCONN NRCA for providing class instruction, guidance on our project, and access to their website platform.
Thank you to the Southington LEAF Executive Director Mark Ramsey for providing us a tour of The LEAF farm and helping us learn more about pest management.
