In short

Who publishes Bench Planner

Bench Planner is a planner app for Android, published by MetalByte Interactive under the Android package name com.metalbyte.benchplanner. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean MetalByte Interactive, and "the app" means Bench Planner.

What the app stores, and where

Bench Planner keeps everything you put into it on your device. It stores it in the app's own storage on the phone, which Android keeps separate from other apps. That covers:

A backup you make with the app starts out on the device as well; see "Backups you make" below.

The app does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts or location. It reads no device identifier and no advertising ID, and it asks for no Android permission to reach your location, camera, microphone, contacts or storage. When you import a backup from a file, Android's own file picker gives the app only the file you choose.

No account

Bench Planner does not require an account and has none. There is no sign-in of any kind.

No server, and no network requests from the app

Bench Planner does not send your planner data to a server operated for this app. There is no such server.

The app makes no network requests of its own. Everything it needs is built into it, and it works with no connection. The Android package carries the standard internet permission that comes with the framework the app is built on; Bench Planner's own code does not use it.

No ads, analytics or tracking

Bench Planner shows no ads and contains no analytics or tracking code. It sets no cookies.

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it. The app never sends us any, so we have none from it to sell or share. The only personal information we receive is what you choose to send us yourself; see "Contact" below.

Locked notes

You can lock a note so that it cannot be changed or deleted by accident. A passcode is optional. If you set one, the app stores only a hash of it on the device, never the passcode itself.

The lock does not encrypt the note. Its text stays readable in the app's storage and in any backup, and the passcode hash goes into backups along with it. A locked note still shows in lists and in search, and it can still be copied.

If you forget the passcode, you can remove the lock from inside the app. The passcode cannot be recovered, only removed, and removing it leaves the note as it was.

Backups you make

The app makes a backup only when you ask for one, and reads one only when you give it one:

The app reads only what you give it, and it asks you before it applies any of it.

Where you keep a backup, for example an email draft, a notes app or an online storage service, is your choice, and that place's own terms govern it. Bench Planner never sends it to us.

While a backup, or a note or scratch pad you copied, is on the clipboard, Android may show a preview of it, and apps you have allowed to read the clipboard, such as a keyboard or a clipboard manager, may be able to see it.

Android's own backup and transfer

Android has its own backup service, and phones have their own backup and transfer tools. If you have them turned on, they may copy the app's data, including the text of locked notes and any passcode hash, to your Google account or to a new phone.

Those tools belong to you and to Android. You control them in your device settings. Google's terms govern them, or your device maker's terms for tools it supplies, not this policy. We have no access to them or to anything they copy.

Android System WebView and Google Play

Bench Planner runs inside Android System WebView, a component of Android provided by Google that draws the app's screens. Anything that component does on its own, for example any usage and diagnostics data Android sends to Google when that setting is on, is governed by your device's settings and Google's terms, not by this policy.

Google Play installs and updates the app under Google's own terms. Google may give us statistics about the app, such as how many devices have it installed, and crash and performance reports from devices whose owners let Android share usage and diagnostics with Google. Those come from Google Play, not from Bench Planner, and contain none of your planner data.

Children

Bench Planner collects no personal information from anyone, including children. The app is not directed at children.

Deleting your data

You can delete any task or note inside the app; a locked note can be deleted once its lock is removed. Uninstalling Bench Planner, or clearing its storage in Android's settings for the app, deletes everything the app holds on the device. We hold none of your planner data anywhere else, so there is nothing else to delete.

A backup you placed somewhere yourself stays there until you delete it. If Android's own backup is on, a copy may also remain in your Google account, and Android may restore it when the app is installed again; your device settings control that copy.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Bench Planner changes these practices, an updated policy will be posted at this address, with a new effective date, before that version is released. The effective date at the start of this page tells you which version you are reading.
