Light Sculpture

Task:

Build A Light Sculpture that informs users about a safety risk

Our Design:

We built a light sculpture that displays the importance of social distancing.

Specs:

Lights controlled by a distance sensor connected to an Arduino Uno that detects if you are within 6 feet of the sculpture.

Acrylic piece that is illuminated by lights from underneath

Circuitry:

We learned a lot about circuitry through the setup of the lights to the Arduino

Box:

Using new skills in woodworking, we constructed a box to safely contain the electronics

Had holes in it for the distance sensor

Arduino:

I coded the Arduino to turn the lights red when the distance sensor detects people in proximity

I learned a lot about Arduino coding and breadboard circuitry

CAD Modelling:

We modelled a image to be engraved into the acrylic

Laser Cutting:

We used the model to laser engrave the image onto the acrylic

When the light hits it, it lights up the whole image
