Tryouts will be constructed with three separate stations. Infield, Outfield, & Hitting. Each station will have a group of outside evaluators that will evaluate each athlete. These volunteers all have a history of baseball knowledge and will provide their best assessment of each athlete. These scores will be used to assist in team selections. Pitching opportunities will be available by request to new BAYBA athletes only.
All athletes that have participated in the BAYBA program prior to the 2023 season, will be allowed to continue to try out with their team/age group, however, we encourage athletes to try out for their grade level. Discussion for these athletes will be held with the understanding that these athletes may try out for a grade that they may not play for. These athletes will have the opportunity to try out at an age group, but be evaluated at multiple levels.
All new athletes to BAYBA will be required to try out at their grade level. When age is in question, the cutoff is May 1st (a 9u player may not turn 10 before May 1st). Any new athlete that would be classified as a '25-'26 second grader (8u), who wishes to try out, is welcome to do so. These athletes will be put on a waiting list.
The BAYBA Board reserves the right to determine an athlete's team placement. A logic chain has been put in place to assist in deciding rosters. As a community based organization, we will prioritize grade level first, age second, and overall organizational need third. Please note, athletes residing in Beloit, will be considered first.
Athletes are only required to attend one day of tryouts, but we encourage them to attend both. Athletes should bring all of their own equipment if possible, cleats, glove, bat, & helmet. (Bats & helmets can be provided.)
