Built around decades of wrestling experience and hard work, the Belmont Wrestling Academy strives to positively impact all kids in the Belmont, San Carlos, Foster City and San Mateo Community.  New comers, experienced and advanced wrestlers all have a place here.  We use a comprehensive, age appropriate and progressive curriculum to teach amateur wrestling.  The three staples of the program are: Family - Tradition - Honor.  We strive to develop and build champions on and off the mat! 

The Staff

Ricardo García - A high school credentialed teacher in physical education has coached for over 32 years in Northern California.  He brings extensive years of experience to the program.

*2 x State High School Qualifier, Central Coast Section Champion 1990 & Junior College State Finalist in 1993

*NCAA Div I Western Athletic Conference Champion for the University of New Mexico

*Competed in the 1991 Espoir World Freestyle Championships

Joe Patane - A local product of El Camino H.S. and Skyline College, Coach Patane was a member of the Chico State University Wrestling Program.

*Has coached for over 4 decades in the Central Coast

*Current Head Coach at Carlmont H.S.

Paul Aherne - A member of the championship program at Arch Bishop Riordan H.S.

*West Catholic Athletic League Champion

*Central Coast Section Finalist

*Blue Belt Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

SUMMER 2026 PRACTICE SCHEDULE (LINK)

*Practices will be held in the Student Center near the back of the school. See Map (Link)

*The practices are in the mornings from 8:00-9:30am and some additional afternoons.  Check the schedule each week.

*The first practice will be on Monday, June 22, 2026 and run through Friday, July 31, 2026

*A current Belmont W.A. Membership and USA Card for 2026 is required.

High School Wrestlers will need a USA Wrestling Card for 2024-25

(New wrestlers can purchase a card for 2025-26 at  The.Mat.com)

Elementary School Age 8 - 14 can register by completing this application.  

Bring it to your first workout.  $175 covers USA Card and Club T-Shirt.

This tuition will cover instruction for Fall 2025 & Spring 2026.
