Fellow-Traveler letter from France: (translated by AI, November, 2024)—
Dear Members and Servants of Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACA),
In this month of November, the month of gratitude, I feel a deep need to write to you to express my gratitude for ACA and all that this community has given me. Since my birth in November 1987, I have witnessed many challenges related to alcoholism in my family and among those close to me. However, thanks to ACA, I have found a refuge, a space of understanding and support, which has allowed me to better accept and manage these experiences.
Your constant presence in my life has been a true blessing. ACA has helped me navigate the complexity of relationships with my parents, grandparents, brother, and even some friends. These relationships, although sometimes difficult, have been enriched by the teachings and sharing I have found within your meetings. You have given me the tools to understand, forgive, and most importantly, to free myself from the emotional chains of the past.
I am also grateful for the programs of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), in which my family and friends participate. Seeing loved ones embark on the path to sobriety, whether it is for a few days or many years, is a source of immense joy and hope for me. Every victory, big or small, is a reminder of the power of community and human resilience. And it is through ACA that I have been able to cultivate this gratitude for their efforts and successes.
ACA has been a pillar in my life, helping me understand and heal the deep wounds left by alcoholism. You have allowed me to transform pain into growth, confusion into clarity, and isolation into connection. Today, I am able to approach my relationships with more compassion, patience, and love, in large part because of you.
This November, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you do. You are a light in the darkness, an invaluable support for those of us who are looking to rebuild and live fully despite the challenges of the past. My gratitude to ACA is immense and sincere, and I am honored to be a part of this community.
With all my gratitude and affection…
A number of organizational activities need to be fulfilled, which can be done by one or more people:
DONE: keeping track of the Zoom account password and renewal date (needs renewal in February);
– the Zoom password allows the group to make sure all Zoom meetings are managed to protect from "Zoom-bombers" or other disruption
* keeping careful track of, and reporting on, the cash still on hand from the days when all meetings were in-person (this responsibility is lightened by having no recurring expenses at this time, other than future 7th Tradition contributions to the Washington Intergroup, the Greater Western USA Region, and ACA World Service
);
* calling for business meetings to decide (by Group Conscience) the above 7th Tradition amounts, and all other business that may come up, such as:
– whether and how to have in-person meetings, Zoom meetings or both;
– when and how best to restart collecting 7th Tradition contributions;
– whether to restart & update a contact lists or lists;
– whether to continue maintaining a website or websites, and updating the website as needed (currently on Google), esp. regarding additional materials of possible support to members
– conduct special events, etc.;
In fellowship and service—
