BELLBIRD PRIVACY POLICY
Effective October 27, 2026. Bellbird is a browser extension that refreshes tabs and alerts you when parts of web pages change. This policy explains what it handles and where that information goes.
THE SHORT VERSION
- Bellbird has no account and no server of its own. It runs in your browser.
- Your watches, their history and your settings are stored in your browser on your computer.
- Bellbird does not collect analytics, show ads, track you, or sell or share data.
- Information leaves your computer only to go where you send it: alert services you set up, the websites you watch, and the payment service if you buy Pro.
WHAT BELLBIRD STORES ON YOUR COMPUTER
- Watches: the address and name of each page you watch, which part of the page you picked, the condition you chose, and a history of the values Bellbird saw.
- Auto refresh: which tabs are refreshing and how often. This is cleared when you close Chrome.
- Alerts: a list of your most recent alerts (up to 100).
- Settings: your preferences, and the details of alert services you set up (such as a Discord webhook link or a Telegram bot token).
This data is kept in the extension’s storage in your browser profile. You can delete any watch from the dashboard, and uninstalling Bellbird deletes everything it stored.
WHAT BELLBIRD READS ON WEB PAGES
Bellbird can only read pages on sites you give it access to, one site at a time. On those sites it reads the text of the part you picked (or the whole page, if you chose to watch the whole page) so it can tell when it changes. When “Wait while I type” is on, it notices whether you are typing or scrolling on that page, so it doesn’t refresh at the wrong moment; it does not record what you type. Background checks load the watched page directly from the website, the same way your browser would, including your cookies for that site.
WHERE INFORMATION GOES
- Alert services you choose. If you turn on phone, Discord, Telegram, Slack or webhook alerts, Bellbird sends each alert straight from your browser to that service. An alert contains the watch’s name, a short description of what changed (for example the new price), and the page address. These services are run by other companies and their own privacy policies apply. Phone alerts use ntfy (ntfy.sh, or your own ntfy server if you enter one).
- Payments. Bellbird Pro is sold through ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com), which uses Stripe to take payments. When you buy Pro, start an ExtensionPay trial or restore a purchase, you enter your email address and payment details on their pages, not in Bellbird. To check whether you have Pro, Bellbird’s ExtensionPay library stores a random identifier in your browser’s extension storage and asks extensionpay.com for your plan status. Bellbird receives your plan, its status and the email you paid with, and never sees your card details.
- Websites you watch. Refreshing and checking a page means your browser requests that page from the website, as if you pressed reload.
PERMISSIONS BELLBIRD USES
- Access to sites you choose: to read the part of a page you’re watching. Bellbird asks for each site separately.
- Tabs you’re using (active tab): to refresh the tab you’re on and start the picker when you click Bellbird.
- Notifications: to show alerts on your desktop.
- Storage, alarms, scripting, offscreen and context menus: to save your watches, run checks on time, read pages you watch, play alert sounds, and add Bellbird to the right-click menu.
CHILDREN
Bellbird is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
CHANGES
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at the same address with a new effective date. Bellbird will not start collecting new kinds of information without updating this policy first.
